Toilet Seat with Potty Trainer

This is more of a FYI posting about this toilet seat I saw, and thought it was a great idea. Since I have a lot of friends that are going through the potty training process this summer with their kids, I thought this might help them.

Four Plex Interior Flip

This is the second posting for this project. I wanted to show some of the interior pictures of what needed to be fix/changed out.  The units on this four plex are 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom units, so there was quit a bit of tile work that was done.

The squatters damaged areas of drywall, ripped out appliances, broke tile, and Read the rest of this entry »

Bathroom Remodel

This was an interesting remodel. The home was built out of cinder blocks, and a concrete slab floor. I had to work with the inspectors closely to make sure everything was okay to do before I made changes. The previous contractor had walked away from the project, after he incorrectly tied in the plumbing. The Inspector wanted either metal studs or pressure treated boards to be in contact with the cinder block walls. The door was a custom fit too. I had to frame it in and trim down the door to fit. Once the plumbing was hooked up correctly, and framed in, the rest of the project went fairly smoothly.

Slate in Bathrooms

Information you should know if you are considering using Slate Tile.

Since slate tile seems to be a popular tile to be viewed on my website, I decided to give more information for those of you out there who are considering using it in a bathroom. Here are some of the pros & cons:

Cons-

1. Most of the slate tile I have used was very difficult to work with.  In many cases, when you are working on a particularly intricate design, the sizes and shapes of the tile aren’t made uniform. Which involves a lot more layout and cutting than originally estimated. For instance, an 12×12 tile is sometimes 11 1/2in. along the top edge, and 11in. on the bottom edge. For this reason I do most of my layout and design first to make sure my grout lines stay true and straight.

Master Bathroom Tile

This is my third shower I tiled in the Dreamland Home. It is also the Master Bathroom shower tile. The back wall (opposite the shower head), was a lot of work and has a lot of detail. It has 6 cubby holes for shampoos and soap bottles, and a seat that ran across the back. It also had diamond patterns, trim, and edge tiles. These pictures don’t do it justice. It came out looking great!! Click to view more pictures.

Tile Shower and Floor

Center Wall

This was my first tile job in the Dreamland Home. I made sure the grout lines flowed through the shower walls and transferred through to the floor tile. The tile inside the shower, on the floor I did in a diamond pattern. It has a raised seat and a feature strip. The homeowner liked the larger tile with the turtle and Palm Trees and wanted them installed at eye level with a border. The seat also has 3 small tiles that have fish on them. So when you are facing the shower head you are looking at the Turtle tile. The crown border tiles added a nice touch to give it more depth.

Tile Shower

Overview

This is my second shower I tiled in the Dreamland Home. It has 3 tiled cubby holes on the outside for storage of towels, shampoos, soaps, etc. Inside the shower there is a large tiled shelf for these items too, up higher. It has a diamond pattern on floor tiles. The green and yellow tiles were also placed in the flooring tiles. The crown border tiles added a nice touch to give it more depth.
